Johnston Tisdale, MA, NCC

Hello! I’m so glad you’re here :)

I’m Johnston and I’m a Nationally Certified Counselor working towards my Pennsylvania license. Before moving to Philadelphia, I was a licensed counselor in Alabama.

I graduated with my BA in Psychology from The University of Alabama (Roll Tide!) in 2013. I graduated with my MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2018. I completed my graduate internship at the UAB Community Counseling Clinic where we offered low cost services to clients who couldn’t afford traditional therapy prices. After graduation I managed my own private practice in Birmingham, AL.

I’ve worked with all kinds of people from ages 3 and up! Some of the issues I’ve helped people with include anxiety, depression, trauma, grief & loss, sexual abuse, women’s issues, suicidal ideation, disabilities & chronic illnesses, life transitions, and sexuality & gender exploration.

Outside of work I enjoy reading, re-watching all the Twilight movies, drawing & painting, watching Alabama football, and taking my dogs to the drive-in. I’m also learning ASL and hope to be able to incorporate that into my practice soon!
